Open Cockpit & RC Aircraft Swap Meet

The New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Conn. will hold its next Open Cockpit Day on Sunday, October 7. On that day, visitors will be permitted to climb into the cockpits of up to 12 vintage aircraft, a full-motion flight simulator and two static flight simulators.

The aircraft to be open include the famous Vought Corsair of WWII, the North American F-100 Super Sabre, a DC-3 airliner, several helicopters and more.  To be open for the first time is a newly restored Lockheed F-104C Starfighter.  This aircraft served with the U.S. Air Force and was deployed in 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  In 1962 it set the altitude and speed record for an operational F-104C, reaching 92,000 feet and a speed of Mach 2.5.
