Daily 5: American Warriors, 5K Races and Live Chats

Here's a look at five things going on in and around Windsor Locks and East Windsor today, Thursday, April 4.

This article was posted by Megan Bard. It was reported and written by Ted Glanzer and Megan Bard.

Good morning, Windsor Locks and East Windsor! Today is Thursday, April 4, 2013; there are 271 days left in the year.

Friends, as you know, I love Taylor Swift.
No, not in that way.

I mean I really want to marry her.

But I can’t. Because I’m already married. Not to mention that I’m way too old and way too poor and way too fat for her anyway. My wife, on the other hand, is a lucky woman. (I love you, honey! ... Honey?)

(Standard Windsor Locks/East Windsor Disclaimer regarding Taylor Swift: There is absolutely nothing creepy at all to have a crush on a woman 20 years my junior. Nope. Nothing creepy at all. Move along. Nothing to see here.)

But that doesn’t mean I can’t encourage this enterprising young man from Canton, who wants to take the Tay Tay to prom.

So what do you say, Taylor? This is a love story, so please say, “yes.”
Don’t be mean.

I promise you he won’t be trouble.

And if he is, then you’ll probably ruin his life with another one of your hit songs. That, my dear, is what’s known as win/win.

Whadda you say?

Here’s your Daily 5:

1. Please welcome the newest blogger on Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch: the American Warrior group. They’ve just posted some information about a local Day of Honor scheduled for April 27. Give it a read, you might be interested in participating in the homecoming celebration.

2. Are you looking to get rid of the drum set that's plagued your life since your son turned 12? Give it away using the Buy/Sell/Trade boards on Patch. Posting is free!

3. It’s that time of year again. Time to pull on the running shoes and welcome spring. If you’re interested in running in a 5K this weekend the Spirit of Spring 5K race is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, in Tolland and it looks like Mother Nature will be smiling on the runners. If you’re not up for running this weekend, but you want to plan one for the future, check out this great 5K map that Patch has put together. Don’t be shy about adding your own!

4. The first Live Lunch Chat left many participants wanting for more. Well, it’s a good think Joel Waldron likes to talk and share his knowledge of conflict resolution with others! Joel will be back on Patch’s Live Lunch Chat today at noon. Make sure to read this post for details about the discussion and check back after you grab a bite to eat!

5. It’s been more than 24 hours since the revamped site has been live. We’d love to hear from you about what you think of the new layout and usability. While we love praise, constructive feedback is really what will help us make Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch even better. Feel free to let us know by filling in this feedback form.
