Scenes From East Windsor's 5k Road Race

Town Celebrates Veterans' Day

Local veterans were honored at the East Windsor Town Hall on Saturday morning, Nov. 5, as part of the town's annual Veterans' Day festivities. The East Windsor Veterans Commission sponsors the annual event, which features a 5k Road Race.

First Selectwoman Denise Menard gave a welcome speech followed by an invocation by Father Paul Gotta and reflections of the holiday by military speaker Col. William Adams and state Rep. Christopher Davis. Hannah Dessert sung the national anthem and Peter Falca performed God Bless America.

Despite the chilly weather, many gathered for the race, which began promptly at 10 a.m. and featured over 100 runners. The race is considered a "seed" race to Thanksgiving Day's Manchester Road Race. The East Windsor Veterans Commissions uses the proceeds of the race – it costs from $5 to $15 to enter – to pay for various programs that honor veterans living in town.
