Rare Blue Moon to Light Up East Windsor, Windsor Locks Sky Tuesday, August 20

Blue moons are rare, being that they are most commonly defined as the second full moon in a single month. Tuesday's blue moon, however, is especially rare.

Not only is it the final blue moon we'll see until 2016, but it's the only full moon of the month.

According to EarthSky.org, Tuesday night's moon won't be blue in color, but is called such because it is the third of four full moons in a season.

The moon, Earth Sky reports, is expected to turn full at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
