Rainy Thursday, Career Fair at East Windsor Middle School, Fishing Derby at East Windsor Park Saturday

Five Things offerings for Thursday.

 

1. It’s Thursday and there’s a 40 percent chance for rain with a high temperature of 61 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will also have a 40 percent chance for rain and a low temperature of 54 degrees.


2. On This Day in: 1802, Washington D.C . was incorporated as a city;
1992 - Five days of rioting and looting ended in Los Angeles. The riots, that killed 53 people, began after the acquittal of police officers in the beating of Rodney King; and 1999, The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 11,000 for the first time.


3. is holding a career fair from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.  The East Windsor Middle School Parent Advisory Committee has coordinated the event. 

Volunteers from the East Windsor community will be available to share information about their careers.  East Windsor students, staff, and their families are welcome to attend.

4. The annual Kids Fishing Derby in East Windsor will be Saturday in . Sponsored by the Broad Brook Angling Club, registration will be from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., and fishing will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The derby is for ages infant to 15 and is free to all East Windsor residents. No lures will be allowed. Prizes will be awarded for: largest fish; first fish caught; and the first person to catch their four fish limit in each age group.

5. East Windsor Building Official Rand Stanley told the board of selectmen Tuesday there have been unintended consequences from the major weather events of 2011.

"I'll tell you since the October snowstorm I've been getting good at (inspecting) generators," Stanley said.
