Daily 5: Farmers' Market, Gun Regulations and Blogging on Patch

Here's a look at five things of interest in the Windsor Locks and East Windsor area today, Friday, April 5.

This Daily 5 was posted by Megan Bard. It was reported and written by Ted Glanzer and Megan Bard

Good morning, East Windsor and Windsor Locks! Today is Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday, party and party and party and YEAH! April 5, 2013; there are 270 days left in the year.

Hey, want to break out laughing?

Well, here’s my favorite joke whenever I’m down. It never fails to bring a smile to my face. And it’s only four words.

Whenever I need a quick pick-me-up, I think of the following:

The New York Mets.

HA!

Oh man, I love it.

That, my friends (especially Jeff), is good comedy.

Mets. HA!

Anyway, here’s your Daily 5:

1. The weather looks to be okay this weekend, but if you have to pick a day for outdoor activities Saturday is your best bet, according to the forecast by the National Weather Service.

2. This great announcement was posted on Thursday by Janice Warren:

Starting this June 30th the East Windsor Farmers' Market will be open for business at 149 North Road, Route 140, in the parking lot of Joe's Package Store and Golden Gavel Auctions. The market will be Sundays from 10-1 and will feature locally grown veggies and other CT grown foods and artisan products. Applications for vendors are available from EW planning office or from Janice Warren. E-mail ewfarmmarket@gmail.com for an application to vend or participate.

3. Haven't posted a blog on Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch for a while? Or could it be that you've been meaning to post your first one, but just haven't gotten around to it. Either way, the new Tolland Patch format offers a much easier way to post your thoughts on the site. Click here to state fresh or find your own account here (look on the left toward the bottom).

4. Curious about how our state officials voted the gun control measures approved by the legislature and then signed into law by the governor this week? Read this article which includes statements from one senator and the vote tally of all four officials

5. Want to see a breakdown of how each state representative and each state senator voted in this week's decision to create stricter gun regulations in Connecticut? The Hartford Courant offers these lists for your viewing pleasure: click here for the Senate and here for the House of Representatives.
