CT Catholic Church: Safety Comes First Before Mass Attendance

The Archdiocese of Hartford reminds its parishioners that residents should heed safety directions from local officials before trying to make it to church this weekend.

The main body of the Catholic Church in Connecticut is giving a pass to its faithful on Mass attendance this weekend due to the heavy snow accumulation dumped on the state following Friday's storm.

The Archdiocese of Hartford — which oversees churches in Harford, New Haven and Litchfield counties — released this statement to Catholics who wish to church on Saturday or Sunday.

“Regarding the attendance at Mass this weekend, Catholics should, first and foremost, carefully heed the safety directives of state and local officials. Members of the Church who plan to attend Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday should use prudence and extreme caution.

In those situations where the conditions are extremely difficult or dangerous, the faithful are reminded that they are, of course, dispensed from the normal obligation. (Code of Canon Law, Canon 1248 § 2)."

But, if you want to watch Mass on TV, the Archdiocese's Office of Radio and Television broadcasts it live out of Hartford on: http://ortv.org/mass.html

Representative Davis is a smart young man. He obviously gets it, which certainly isn't thatRead More difficult. Unfortunately, the large majority of Democrats don't get it, and they are ruining our state. Take note David Kiner, Chris Davis has a clue, he gets it! As Mr. Davis has suggested, we are a ticking time bomb and unless we correct this spending and borrowing problem NOW we are absolutely doomed. We are on the same path places like Detroit have gone down and, as I'm sure you are all aware, that city is a wasteland. Since the Democrats have displayed an inability to do what is right for our state, each and every one of them needs to be voted out of office and replaced by leaders with a sense of fiscal discipline. Leaders that will spend OUR money with care. The future of our state, for ourselves and our children, depends on it!
