Morning Coffee Clutch Serves Up A Piping-Hot $3,000,000 Lottery Prize

Rocky Hill, CT /July 10, 2013 – Every morning for the past 27 years, Bob Moticka of Windsor Locks has visited his favorite 7-Eleven Store for coffee, to chat with friends and to entertain himself by playing some CT Lottery instant games.  Last Friday, Moticka purchased a “$3,000,000 Riches” ticket for $30, and much to his utter amazement, he was served up with a “piping-hot” winning number match for the game’s $3,000,000 top prize.

“When I saw the prize was $3,000,000—I got goose bumps!” Moticka told lottery officials with a laugh.  “I covered up the prize on the ticket and then asked my friend to look at it and tell me if the two numbers were a match.  When he said they did, I pulled my thumb away and showed him what I won.”

After taking a memorable “joy ride” to share his incredibly good news with his family, Moticka arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to officially validate his winning ticket.  The $3,000,000 Riches game gives top prize winners the choice between a 20-year annuity prize worth $3,000,000, or a cash lump sum value of $2,307,300.  Opting for the cash lump sum, Moticka accepted a prize check for $1,575,896 after taxes.

“I’ve been a steel crane operator, putting up buildings, for 30 years…its hard work,” said Moticka jovially.  “Whether or not I decide to retire, I’m going to buy my dad’s house, help my daughter and my family and invest.”

Moticka purchased his top prize winning ticket at 7-Eleven Store #15438, located at 535 Halfway House Road in Windsor Locks.  “I sold the ticket to Bob myself,” said the store’s owner, Bhasker Patel.  “He’s one of our regular customers.  We are just so delighted that he won.”  7-Eleven Store #15438 will receive a $30,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
The overall chances of winning a prize in $3,000,000 Riches are 1 in 3.63.  Of the 4 top prizes in the game 2 remain to be claimed.

The CT Lottery reminds the public that purchasers must be 18 or older, and to please play responsibly.  For information about the CT Lottery, call (860) 713-2700, or visit ctlottery.org.
