HARTFORD – State Representative Christopher Davis (R- Ellington) is once again teaming up with the Salvation Army and Wal-Mart to help raise money for the community this holiday season.
Representative Davis will be collecting donations in the famous red Salvation Army kettle outside of the East Windsor Wal-Mart on Thursday, December 20th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Wal-Mart will make a dollar for dollar match to the money collected in the kettle during the hour Rep. Davis participates in the bell ringing. Last year, $389.74 was donated during the hour Rep. Davis participated in the bell ringing which, with the match from Wal-Mart, resulted in a total of $779.48 that went to the needy.
The matching donations will go to East Windsor's only food pantry, the Five Corner Cupboard.
"The Salvation Army is a great organization that does so much for our community," Davis said. "It's heartwarming to see how generous people are at this time of year, and we are thankful to have such generous donations from Wal-Mart as well. Last year was great, but I am hoping we can surpass last year's totals and get some much needed assistance for those that need it most."
Wal-Mart is located at 69 Prospect Hill Rd, East Windsor.
