Winterfest in Windsor Locks on Saturday, Chicago at Broad Brook Opera House

Five Things for A Friday.

 

 

1. Welcome Friday, it will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 47 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will have a low temperature of 31 degrees and snow showers late.

2. Today is National Umbrella Day.  Can’t find a reason why, but an umbrella could come in handy if you’re out walking while it’s snowing Saturday. Make sure you have one on hand, nevertheless.

3.Windsor Locks’ Winterfest 2012 will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be events for children of all ages at Town Hall, Senior Center & Library. Click on Winterfest 2012 for more details.

4. The Opera House Players are presenting Chicago, The Musical from today through February 26, at the Broad Brook Opera House, 107 Main Street, Broad Brook. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.operahouseplayers.org or by calling the box office at 860-292-6068. Suggested for mature audiences. The show will be directed by Becky Beth Benedict, with musical direction by Angela McCulloch Klimaytis and choreography by Alison Bogatay.

Murderesses Velma Kelly (a chanteuse and tease who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together) and Roxie Hart (who killed her boyfriend when she discovered he wasn't going to make her a star) find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago.

5. The Town of Windsor Locks is offering free Income Tax Preparation under the VITA program to all residents with a household income under $50,000.00.  For more information and qualifying requirements click on VITA Program.
